So as a lot of you probably don't know,i STILL rap almost daily. I mean some of my more current followers may not even know that i used to emcee back before i ever started producing music for others. ANYWAY, When i did rap, i liked to write and make music about real life shit. I wasn't really into making "party music" or whatever else. I used music to get things off my chest or get messages out to the masses.

After the standing rock situation, and later..the Colten Boushie murder case and outcome, I HAD to write some shit down as i had so much stuff stuck in my brain daily. I got into some pretty heated arguments and rants on social media, and had to fall back as i realised it really wasn't helping anything. You can't CHANGE people. When you think of how hard it is to CHANGE yourself, you realise that.

I wasn't sure if i would ever let the masses hear this song as I don't own the rights to the music, and was actually planning on putting the vocals over a beat of my own eventually. Each time i tried it just didn't have the same feel as this one. SO, I left it as is and mix/mastered it.

I decided to write partially about past and current pipeline issues down south at Standing Rock and also right here at home in BC, Canada....then ended up writing the 2nd verse about a huge real life injustice that happened here in Saskatchewan on a farm near North Battleford. I wrote this song in about 15-20 minutes right after hearing the "not guilty" verdict for Gerald Stanley, the Saskatchewan Farmer that shot and killed a young first nations man named Colten Boushie at point blank range, and was somehow found NOT GUILTY on all charges on the grounds that "The gun just went off" and that it was "an accident". No manslaughter, no careless use of a firearm,.. nothing...Free....😥

I could type a really long story about it and how i felt about everything, but its probably just easier if you listen to the song.

After watching that first contact series last night, I knew i had to let this song see the light of day finally. I have first nations people that i LOVE like family. I know I can be a voice against injustice and in lots of ways i always have been. We have to do better as human beings....Its never too late to start making a change. <3
